Pete's Scotch Doubles Idea
Unfortunately this year of bowling is coming to an end and this idea will not be considered until well into next year.
This year there was an attempt at making the wednesday practise into a competitive team game. This was an awesome idea and seemed to encourage people to bowl better.
Pete's idea was to have a week where sort of Scotch rules applied. Teams are made up of the top and bottom bowlers, followed by the second top and second bottom and so on.
The first bowler bowls the first bowl and the second follows. So if a strike is bowled, the second bowler will bowl the first ball of the second frame, then the first bolwer gets the second ball.
Initial thoughts suggest that scores could be really close. The poorer bowlers will be encouraged to bowl better and the better bowlers will be under pressure to capitalise when they do. Obviously you can't keep individual scores, so it would have to be a one off thing (not every week).
