Newbie Rules
I think it is important that we pass on a few important rules to the newbies of the group. This comes following a slight slip of the tongue by young miss matthews this evening which I fully believe was the only reason I did not make my first 300 game.

Rule 1: Never ever point out to a bowler that they are on target for a perfect game.
Rule 2: Never ever point out to a bowler that they are on target for a closed game.
Rule 3: Don't bowl following a split, allow the bowler to complete their frame before continuing.

I'm sure there are others that need adding to the list so please help me out.

Big Grin

Rule 4: Never bowl when a bowler is preparing themselves on the lane next to you. Bowlers should "give way" to the right, so if a bowling is on the lane to the right of you, wait until they hav bowled before stepping up.

I quote this because I think it really needs reiterating that if someone is up on the approach next to you, you do not go up to bowl. As everyone who's bowled with me so far this term knows, this really. pisses. me. off.

Is it not the rule to give way on either side of you? I always do this - also helps to slow the game down!

Rule 5: It is acceptable to point out to a bowler before they take their approach that they are in a 'Beer Frame Winning/Spilling situation'

Rule 3.1 Should another bowler leave the 7-10 split, it is acceptable, with their permission, to attempt to make the spare with them. However, this should only be attempted outside of tournements and with care to miss the sweep

Fair enough if two people go up at roughly the same time and one of them has to go first, but when you are already on the approach getting ready to bowl and someone comes walking past you, it's very distracting. And wrong!
